A Pacific beach resort, a historic capital, and tropical rainforest, all within a short drive of each other. Panama gives your guests a wedding week with the canal on the horizon and the city at the door. Here’s how to plan yours.
Panama puts three very different settings within an hour of each other. Your ceremony can face the Pacific at Playa Bonita, your welcome dinner can be on a rooftop in Panama City’s colonial quarter, and your guests can spend a free morning in rainforest that starts at the edge of town. Ships lining up for the canal sit on the horizon the whole week.
Getting guests there is simple. Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport is the hub for Copa Airlines and has non-stop service from 19 U.S. airports, plus Canada. Panama uses the U.S. dollar as its everyday currency and stays on Eastern Standard Time all year, so guests from the East Coast arrive with no exchange to sort out and no time change to adjust to.
Our Panama wedding resort is Dreams Playa Bonita, a family-friendly all-inclusive on the beach near the canal’s Pacific entrance. We work directly with its wedding and group sales teams to secure your date, negotiate your room block, and keep the planning on track, at no cost to you.
We work directly with the wedding coordinators and group sales team at Dreams Playa Bonita. That means faster answers on venue and date availability, stronger room block terms for your guests, and one person on your side from the first call through the wedding day.
Tocumen is the home base of Copa Airlines, which flies non-stop from 17 U.S. cities, including Miami, Orlando, New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. United adds service from Houston, Newark, and San Francisco. Miami is about three hours away, and guests coming from Latin America or Europe often have a direct option too.
Panama uses the U.S. dollar, so guests pay for excursions, tips, and city outings without exchanging money. The country stays on Eastern Standard Time all year, which keeps East Coast guests on their own schedule and makes the week easier on anyone traveling with kids.
Dreams Playa Bonita sits near the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal, and ships waiting their turn are part of the view from the beach. The Miraflores Locks visitor center is a short drive away, where guests can watch vessels rise and fall through the locks from an observation deck.
Panama City’s colonial quarter has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Its restored plazas, churches, and balconied streets now hold restaurants and rooftop bars with views across the bay to the modern skyline, a setting for a welcome dinner or a group night away from the resort.
Soberanía National Park and the town of Gamboa sit along the canal less than an hour from the resort. Guests can walk forest trails known for birdwatching, take a boat on Gatún Lake to see monkeys along the shore, or visit an Emberá community on the Chagres River.
A ferry from the Amador Causeway reaches Taboga Island, a quiet village with a beach and flower-lined lanes. For guests willing to start early, a full-day trip to the San Blas Islands brings them to the Guna Yala coast and its small palm-covered islands on the Caribbean side.
Dreams Playa Bonita stands on 20 acres of beachfront rainforest on the Pacific, about 20 minutes from downtown Panama City. It offers several ceremony settings, a kids’ club for families traveling with children, and an on-site wedding team that plans events at the resort every week.
Full-scale resorts with the programming, room configurations, and amenities to keep every generation in your guest list comfortable and entertained all week.

Panama’s dry season runs from mid-December through April, with sunny days and steady breezes along the Pacific coast. May through November is the rainy season, when afternoon showers are common but usually pass quickly. Panama lies outside the main hurricane belt, so storm season isn’t a planning factor here.
Visiting couples can marry legally in Panama, and no residency is required. The civil ceremony is performed by a Panamanian judge, and you’ll need apostilled birth certificates and proof of single status, translated into Spanish. Many couples sign legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony at the resort. We walk you through either path well ahead of time.
Guests fly into Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panama City, served non-stop from 19 U.S. airports and from Canada. Copa’s busiest U.S. routes are Miami, Orlando, New York JFK, Los Angeles, and Washington Dulles. The transfer to the resort crosses the Bridge of the Americas and usually takes 35 to 50 minutes, depending on traffic.
Peak dry-season dates at Dreams Playa Bonita book 12 to 18 months out. With one wedding resort in the country, venue availability on your date is the main constraint. Reaching out early gives us more room to secure the ceremony setting you want and the room block terms your guests need.
Whether you’re still comparing countries or ready to hold a date at Dreams Playa Bonita, our team will guide every decision at no cost to you. Resorts pay our fee, not couples.
